Lush Valentine’s Day Haul + Review!

Valentine’s day is nearly upon us and Lush is here to help get you smelling great and looking amazing for your special someone.  Lush’s holiday ranges are second to none (think Easter egg bath ballistics and Christmas sparkle everything) and this year’s Valentine’s range is no exception.  Every item is brand spanking new, never seen before with new scents, formulations and surprises!

I bought 3 products out of the range which consists of 2 different melting massage bars (great for sharing), the pinkest soap you’ve ever seen with teeny white hearts inside, a pomegranate spiked shower gel, a huge love heart locket bath ballistic and my favourite, a kissable lip tint – view and buy the products here.

The shower gel is appropriately named Prince Charming, so for those without a man in their lives this year (myself included) he’s a wonderful V-Day companion.  Smelling of pomegranate and vanilla – honestly what other man would smell that good? – Prince Charming leaves the skin soft and lightly scented for hours after use.  Also makes a great shampoo for extra delightful hair or a luscious bubble bath. The mini was just $8.95 and a little goes a long way so the relationship should last for a few uses even after Valentine’s day.

The Love Locket bath ballistic is one of the biggest ballistics I’ve seen in Lush and for good reason, it’s packed full of pink and purple heart shaped confetti and has another heart inside. It turned my bath a bright pink and made the whole room smell like lollies but not overwhelmingly sweet or heady.  At $8.95 for the huge ballistic that can be broken into pieces for more than a couple of uses the Love Locket is excellent.

The Kiss lip gloss is the product I couldn’t wait to get my hands on, as it was supposed to come out last Valentine’s but never arrived so I was extra excited to try it this year.  It’s the prettiest shimmery rose pink tint which smooths your lips and also smells and tastes delicious, a bit fruity and very sweet.  With softening butters including shea and agave for sweetness, at just $9.95 it’s a super nice (and appropriate) Valentine’s product.

These products sell out fast in store and online, so if you want to get them, act quick!

First Impressions Review of Frank Body Scrub!

Last week I caved and ordered Frank Bod – after following them on Instagram for months my curiosity got the better of me.

Basically Frank is a coffee scrub which is supposed to tone your skin, diminish cellulite, fade stretchmarks and brighten along with all the other things every body scrub does. I used it about an hour ago and I’m already loving it! I smell like a freshly brewed short black and my skin feels so soft and moisturised. It contains coffee (duh), sweet almond oil, brown sugar, orange oil and vitamin E and all these ingredients come together to make a slightly oily scrub which isn’t too coarse and leaves skin smooth.  I’m impressed after one use and I have at least 4 more scrubs worth in the packet (all for just $14.95) so I’ll keep you posted on how the toning goes and whether it diminishes the dimples on my thighs to any degree.  All in all it’s a nice product, cheaper than most other good quality scrubs, smells amazing and I’m impressed by how smooth and hydrated my skin feels.
Frank ships internationally from their website here and definitely check out their instagram @frank_bod for cheeky advertising (frank encourages customers to take photos while scrubbing and post them on Insty, so here’s mine).

I also mentioned that I ordered Slimbliss tea last week and it arrived yesterday (it’s a week of self betterment for me) so keep your eye out for that review soon!

Spending All My Money!

Today I went to the city simply to get out of the house for the morning.  This was not a good idea.  I don’t have much money left but I do have some shiny new things to haul for you guys!
The hero of the trip were my beautiful new Topshop boots which I’d been eyeing off for a while and finally delved into my Christmas money to buy.  I’m in love.

 Stopped in at Lush..of course.

And I rounded out my GG collection with the final two seasons (you’ll understand if I don’t post on here for a week or so)

Earlier in the week I also did some online shopping (which is yet to arrive) I ordered Frank Bod coffee scrub which I will definitely review on here as soon as it arrives and Slimbliss tea, which I will also review!

Thanks for reading, until next time,
Love, Holwa x

My 2013 Favourites!

2013 was a big year for new products and new obsessions, so here is a taste of my favourites!

Beauty

First up is cult favourite Maybelline The Falsies Volum Express mascara in”Black Drama”.  This is probably the oldest product of the bunch and very well loved, it does everything a good mascara should do and more and it’s my number one go to for big, black lashes.

Next is MAC Let’s Skate Pro Longwear Paint Pot.  My MAC collection has grown a lot this year but it’s mostly lipsticks, this was my first non-lip product I bought from MAC and it’s beautiful.  It’s a perfect pink shimmer colour with gold glitter and I love wearing it on it’s own with a bit of liner and lots of mascara.

Which brings me to Maybelline’s Master Precise Liquid Liner.  This product is perfect.  Prior to buying this it took me way too long to get a symmetrical cats eye liner, with the Master Precise it’s so much easier.  It could be because of the tiny thin tip or the consistency but this product make lining your lash line so much easier.

Foundation is such a difficult product to get right and I’ve been a Revlon buyer for a while but my foundation never matched perfectly or it was too heavy.  Then the Nearly Naked range came along and my perfect foundation was found. I use the second lightest colour 120 Vanilla and it matches as closely as a foundation can and it is the perfect consistency – not mask-like but covers everything that needs covering.

My Illamasqua blush duo in Katie and Ambition is my favourite Illamasqua product to date.  The Katie colour (the lighter top one) is a pale candy pink which is very pigmented and so nice to use.  The only thing I don’t like about this product is that I should have bought the Katie colour as a single as I don’t use the Ambition colour (quite similar to Nars Orgasm but a deeper pink) enough.

Finally for beauty is a product Zoella uses all the time and that’s the Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in the colour 107.  This amazing cranberry red lipstick (which also smells like cranberries) is the most fuss free red lipstick ever, it doesn’t need a liner underneath or constant reapplying, just put it on and go.

Other Stuff

TV show – Game of Thrones hands down, finished the third series last night and my life feels slightly empty, cannot wait for the next season!

Music – Lorde Pure Heroine is an amazing album, but One Direction wins out with Midnight Memories, so perfect.

Book – anything by John Green.  I got three of his books for Christmas and have become hooked.

Hope you enjoyed reading about my favourites for the year!

New year, new you?

Happy NYE. New year means lots of different things to lots of different people, many see it as a chance to start fresh, change things, make themselves better. I don’t see it as much different to any other day.  If you’re so desperate to make your life better why wait until the new year? Why not the new week, new day?
2013 has been interesting, things have fallen apart, things have fallen together, lots and lots has changed (including my hair) and it was the year I realised you can’t pin your views of yourself on what other people think. I’ve got rid of some toxic relationships, attempted to strengthen new friendships and generally been happier in myself.
This blog is kind of my first step towards doing things only for myself and not worrying about the opinions of others.  This time last year I would never have dreamed of writing blog posts so much about myself and sharing them to social media, but now my only thought is what have I got to lose? There’s a quite a bit to gain as well 🙂
This is a bit of a weird post isn’t it? I blame Lorde because I’m listening to Pure Heroine while I write this.
Anyway, happy new year/happy new day and thank you for reading!
Love, Holwa x
